The Montfortian Disciples of Asia – The Montfortian Way Bandung 2024
From 29 July to 1 August, the Montfort Way meeting took place as a result of the International Montfortian Meeting held in August 2023 in Saint Laurent-sur-Sèvre (France).
The meeting on The Montfortian Way, which took place in Bandung (Indonesia), was organised by the Montfortian Disciples of Asia (MODA). It was attended by members of the three Montfortian congregations and their respective associates: The Daughters of Wisdom and Friends of Wisdom, the Montfort Missionaries and Association of Mary Queen of All Hearts,The Brothers of St. Gabriel and Associates of the Brothers of St. Gabriel in South East Asia and Oceania. In all, 70 participants from seven countries: Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Myanmar. The participants were distributed as follows: 5 Daughters of Wisdom, 12 Montfort Missionaries, 3 Brothers of St. Gabriel and 50 Associates from the three Congregations.
During these four days, the participants looked at St. Louis Marie de Montfort and his missionary dynamics. They were inspired by the guidance of Blessed Marie-Louise of Jesus and Father Gabriel Deshayes who missioned according to the inspiration of the Founder by following Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, as messenger of the Heavenly Father.
The participants also reflected on the prophetic dimension of the missionary journey of the three Montfortian Congregations in the contemporary world, especially through the links with their respective Associates and/or collaborators.
Finally, the participants debated how these three Congregations, with their Associates in South East Asia and Oceania, could work more closely together in a synodal spirit, particularly in deepening and sharing the Montfortian charism and spirituality. The speakers who explored these themes in depth were drawn from the Associates themselves and from members of the three Congregations.
This meeting was a great and significant step forward in the history of the missionary presence of the three Montfortian Congregations in this part of the world.
