Province of Bengaluru – Montfortian Education for Life – seminar for all the Staff of St. Thomas Mount school

On 18th June 2022, Rev. Bro Dr. Paul Raj conducted a one day seminar for all the Staff of our school on the topic- “Montfortian Education for Life”. The day started with Lighting of the Lamp & prayer seeking the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide us through the day and make the learning fruitful.

Rev. Bro Paul Raj started the Seminar by highlighting the difference between ‘teaching as a job and teaching as a ministry’. He clearly illustrated the difference and made us understand that the commitment to the job we are entrusted makes it a ministry. He then brought to light the core qualities of a Montfortian follower: Absolute trust in God, courage to face suffering, restrained desires, Love & concern for the poor & needy. If we practice the above qualities, we certainly can be models to all the children entrusted to our care. 

After the morning break Bro Paul Raj, introduced the SWOT analysis and divided us into smaller groups in order to discuss and thereafter to present the School’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats and thereby to fix a theme for the academic year. This activity helped us explore all possibilities, realize the positives to be nurtured and identify the negatives to be corrected. Towards the second half of the day Bro Paul Raj led us into a session on “What is Montfortian Education”? During this session he stressed on the fact that “Student is the Centre of Montfortian Education”.

The Seminar was indeed enriching and boosted our morale in order to start the academic year with a lot of aspirations and dreams for our students and school as a whole. The positive vibes of the Seminar will definitely help us keep our students as our priority and work towards their progress and take each day as a learning experience, thereby keeping the spirit of St Montfort, our Patron, seeking the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God, in every step of our process.
